Baby Massage Course
Being touched and massaged is a basic need for our babies; it is relaxing, it enhances their
sense of security, their sleep patterns as well as their immune-systems.
It also helps with tummy troubles, promotes a healthy bonding process and
helps with self-regulation.
Our FOUR-WEEK (four 2-hour sessions) or extended SIX-WEEK course (six 2-hour sessions)
will give you lots of time with your Certified SHANTALA Massage Instructor to get totally comfortable with
your SHANTALA Baby Massage routine and all its options and variations. Are you a parent of a special needs baby? We
recommend to choose the SIX-week course option to allow extra time for you and your baby.
Both courses are designed for babies and their mom, dad or primary caregiver.
Your baby's age might range from about six weeks to crawling phase.
Objectives for both courses:
- The traditional technique of SHANTALA Baby Massage and all its options and variations.
- Alternatives for when your baby is touch defensive.
- Developmentally beneficial baby yoga-exercises.
- Reflexology for baby's feet (colic, gas, constipation, teething).
- Which massage oils should you use on babies and why. A variety of oils will be sampled throughout the course.
- Which essential oils are safe to use on babies.
- You will learn about a more supporting way to pick up and hold your baby ("base-affirmative")
- Learn about baby's hand language.
- Different swaddling options; why, when and how.
- The babies will have a relaxing
TummyTub®
bath after each massage.
- Get lots of additional tips and information.
- A complete and comprehensive manual.
What to bring:
-
Your baby, not necessarily dressed, p.j.'s are fine.
-
One fluffy towel or soft blancket.
-
Couple of face cloths.
-
Something warm to wrap around your baby.
-
Baby towel.
-
Clothes for your baby, for after massage and bath.
-
Be prepared to feed your baby during and/or after massage/bath (bring your own bottle warmer!).
-
Something to let your baby sleep in or on after bath/massage.
-
Perhaps a toy (without sound!) just in case your little one wants to play a bit.
-
For yourself comfortable clothes (we sit on the floor). If you want to massage your baby on your
bare legs, be prepared for that. Do not dress too warm, the room we massage in, is warm because
of the (naked) baby's.
Cost?
Prices may vary per location and/or instructor, but we recommend a maximum price of $180 for
a FOUR-week course and $270 for the extended SIX-week course, when done in a private or semi-private setting.
Both prices are including massage oil for the classes, your choice of baby massage oil to take home and a complete and comprehensive manual.
